SUMMARY:6PM - Intermediate Digital Illustration
DESCRIPTION:TUESDAY CLASS \nToday we learned about proportions in drawing human bodies. \n\nHow many heads tall is your character/drawing: Depending if they are adults\, teenagers\, kids\, or cartoonish proportions.\nHow to divide up the body in easy sections\, such as: elbows and the waist are the same level\, wrist and crotch is the same level\, elbows are about mid-way between shoulder and wrist\, and knees are about midway between ankles and crotch.\n\n \nHOMEWORK \nPART 1: \nPlease take a full body picture of yourself (ask your parents or use a mirror)\, and send it to your ipad. \nStart a new canvas on ibisPaint and import your image. Draw over yourself to figure out how many heads tall you are. In a different layer\, draw over yourself to find the joints in the body\, such as shoulders\, elbows\, wrists\, ankles\, knees\, and where your leg starts. Connect the dots with lines to draw your stick figure. Then hide (turn off the layer) of the picture of yourself and fill in your stick figure to make a simple human figure. (kind of like the guy on the left in the image above) \nPART 2: \nFind and download a full-body image of a character. It can be any character of any age or art style. \nYou can start a new canvas\, or use the same canvas to import the image. Do the same steps as PART 1\, but this time for this character you chose instead of the picture of yourself.

SUMMARY:5PM - Beginner Digital Illustration
DESCRIPTION:MONDAY CLASS \nToday we began the Four Flowers project. The first flower is a purple hyacinth and the hardest flower in this project. We learned how to 1) make side-facing and front-facing mini flowers using the ruler tools\, 2) copy the flowers we made by using the “duplicate layer” button\, transforming tool\, and “merge layer” button. \nAll the mini-flowers have been made and resized\, and next class we will put all the parts together to make a complete hyacinth flower. \n \nHOMEWORK \n\nMake sure you are caught up on the Four Flowers project. (refer to the photo above)\n\n[Layer 1]: The dark purple shape\n[Layer 2]: Seven side-facing mini-flowers\n[Layer 3]: Nine front-facing mini-flowers\n\n\nFill out this form: CLICK HERE

SUMMARY:6PM - Intermediate Digital Illustration
DESCRIPTION:TUESDAY CLASS \nToday we started on a new project to draw the character Colt from Brawl Stars. \nBuilding on the lesson from last week\, this time we are drawing a full-body character figure by using the proportions measurements\, joint locations\, and stick-man lines to make an overall “puppet” sketch of the character. We measured that Colt is about 2.5 heads tall. \nIn class\, we finished the puppet sketch of his body and pose\, and we finished doing the lines for the face and head. \n(as pictured below) \n \nHOMEWORK \n\nDraw four or more puppet figures in various poses. You need at least four different poses. Standing straight up doesn’t count since we have done that pose for last time’s homework.\nSome pose ideas: sitting down\, laying down\, striking a pose\, jumping\, running\, walking the dog\, tying shoes\, kicking\, punching\, playing a sport\, crouching\, etc.\nYou can also look for poses online\, in books or magazines\, or even looking at real-life people.\nNo tracing. That was last week’s homework.\n\n

SUMMARY:5PM - Beginner Digital Illustration
DESCRIPTION:WEDNESDAY CLASS \nToday we added the tail and the wing to our Blue Jay project. We used the following steps for each item. \n\nFirst\, draw a base shape in a solid color. (shape of the tail or wing)\nSelect the shape with the Magic Wand tool. This makes staying inside the lines easy while we add details.\nAdd darker and lighter shades of color using the Airbrush tool for soft gradient transitions of color.\nDraw the lines to separate the feathers\, and show detail. (NOTE: lines can be drawn in a separate layer to allow freedom of coloring)\nAdd more feather details as lines or colors as needed.\n\nNext week we will draw the details of the head and face. \n \nHOMEWORK \nConsider the WIP (work in progress) image above. Make sure your layers is organized the same way for best results. Catch up and re-do anything you need\, to be ready for next class. You should be caught up at least to the picture above.
