MONDAY CLASS:
Today we finished our Snowman project, adding shading, background, and details to our drawing. Good job everyone!
For HW:
Please re-make the Snowman project, using the tools and techniques we learned in class. You may add any personal extra details you would like.
Steps:
- [Sketching] : Sketch the snowman and the background on separate layers. Hide the background sketch so you can focus on the snowman.
- [Coloring] : Add a new layer (under the sketch). Color this whole layer in a light grey/blue. Add a new layer. Color your snowman white. Add a new layer. Color the details, like clothes or other features.
- [Lines] : Add a new layer. Using a small brush, and a dark color (or black), trace the lines of your sketch.
- [Shading] : Add a new layer (place it under lines and over colors). Using the color picker by holding down your pen/finger, pick up the color you are going to shade, and make it a little bit darker to add shading. Shade your snowman and all the details.
- [Background] : Hide all the layers of your snowman. Turn on only the grey/blue layer (the most bottom layer), and turn on the background sketch (the most top layer). Add a new layer, and place it right above the grey/blue layer. Color in your background. (you can make any background you want, like a beach)
- [Details] : When your background is done, you can turn all the layers back on to see the completed picture. You can now add one more new layer, and add any extra details to the picture.
Here is the finished picture from today’s project for reference:
