6PM – Intermediate Digital Illustration

April 13, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

TUESDAY CLASS

Today we learned about proportions in drawing human bodies.

  • How many heads tall is your character/drawing: Depending if they are adults, teenagers, kids, or cartoonish proportions.
  • How to divide up the body in easy sections, such as: elbows and the waist are the same level, wrist and crotch is the same level, elbows are about mid-way between shoulder and wrist, and knees are about midway between ankles and crotch.

HOMEWORK

PART 1:

Please take a full body picture of yourself (ask your parents or use a mirror), and send it to your ipad.

Start a new canvas on ibisPaint and import your image. Draw over yourself to figure out how many heads tall you are. In a different layer, draw over yourself to find the joints in the body, such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, ankles, knees, and where your leg starts. Connect the dots with lines to draw your stick figure. Then hide (turn off the layer) of the picture of yourself and fill in your stick figure to make a simple human figure. (kind of like the guy on the left in the image above)

PART 2:

Find and download a full-body image of a character. It can be any character of any age or art style.

You can start a new canvas, or use the same canvas to import the image. Do the same steps as PART 1, but this time for this character you chose instead of the picture of yourself.
